Harry T. & Harriette V. Moore Justice Center Expansion

Viera, Florida
W & J Construction built the 60,000 square foot, four-story addition to the Moore Justice Center in 2004. At that time, two floors were left unfinished to be used for future expansion. In 2007 we completed those two floors in time for the arrival of two new judges.
The build-out included two new courtrooms, holding cells, and support offices. The project also consisted of the installation of Security Access Doors, Security Frame Doors, and Security Hardware. A new acoustical ceiling system and acoustical wall panels were installed. The woodwork and trim were painted and stained, the fire alarm devices were installed, and other mechanical and plumbing systems were incorporated to be compatible with the existing systems.
Finishes included the millwork for judge’s benches, witness stands, jury, and courtroom seating. The removal and reinstallation of the curtain wall framing, and glass and interior glazing for doors and windows, completed the project.
As the two floors were completed, additional scope was added for the expansion and renovations to the Sheriff’s area. Extra work was also added to modify the piping of the existing chiller plant in order to allow connection of a temporary chiller for emergencies as well as prepare the existing chiller plant piping for future expansion.
Through careful cost control, W & J was able to utilize over $158,000 in savings that funded the added scope.
W & J was still able to finish the work over a month ahead of schedule.
